BATTLE ROYALE STRATEGY

Battle Royale Strategy
(Beta: Version 1.1.0)
March 23, 2013

The Battle Royale on Legend of the Cryptids (r) is one of the most strategic and competitive events in the game. In fact, I am willing to say it is the most competitive and strategic of all, and there are many underlying reasons for this.

There are several "Very Important" areas of concern that the Leadership of any guild must pay attention to, in order to be as successful as they can during the Battle Royale. Those Areas include: Rampart Maintenance, Defense Leader, Sub-Leader, Attack-Leader, Attack Strategy, Preemptive defeat strategy, Hedging & Scenarios  This may sound strange but some guilds who are small can actually be very successful in the Battle Royale. Let's take a piece by piece look into each area of the Battle Royale strategy.

RAMPART MAINTENANCE

During my first Battle Royale as a Guild Leader I realized the importance of a Rampart. It is a guilds first line of defense against the onslaught of enemy guilds. A rampart 1/2's the amount of BR points attained by enemy guilds. Thereby, with a strong Rampart you can prevent an enemy guild from taking many points from your guild.

Guild Leader Responsibility: Fix the Rampart prior to Battle Royale & in between BR battles.

First, a guild has to know many things about its members to properly set up their Attack, Defense, and Sub Leaders, and ensure they have the "Right" members for the respective positions. This is the Guild Leaders responsibility, and it is the most important one prior to the Battle Royale Event!!!

RAMPART STRATEGY

Taking down the Rampart(s) is much more important than I had previously thought (Big Oops)! It is a vital part to winning a BR battle! Ramparts prevent other Guilds from attaining 100% of points gained against opposing guild members in a battle. When the rampart is in place, guild members only get 50% of points gained as opposed to full points for each BR battle against an opposing guild member.

(MORE TO FOLLOW IN THIS SECTION, CONCLUDING BR7 EVENT)
STAY TUNED!

DEFENSE LEADER(S)

There is a reason why the Defense Leader is the second most important area to talk about concerning Battle Royale strategy. It is the "Primary" line of defense for your guild. Until the Defense leader is defeated; "No other member of your guild can be touched!" Read that last sentence again and make sure it sinks in! Your Defense Leader(s) are the most important members of the guild when talking about Battle Royale Strategy! They can make or break your Battle Royale ranking. I recommend having 1 very strong Defense Leader for high ranking guilds who are strong, and 2-3 (active) Defense Leaders for lower ranking or weaker guilds. A (Power Potion contribution) can be set up for the Defense Leaders so they can keep their defense up throughout the Battle Royale event as well.

- Weak Defense Leader = A guild will soon be left open to attack by enemy guilds.
- Strong Defense Leader = A guild can survive for a longer period of time without being attacked!
- Strong & "Active" Defense Leader = A guild may survive indefinitely during a BR without being successfully attacked. For this to happen, the Defense Leader must use their power potions to keep their defense power up.

The Defense leader should be the member of the guild who can sustain the most amount of damage from other players in the game. There should be no exception to this rule. It does not matter if your friend wants the position to be cool, or if another member has been in the guild a long time and you as the leader think they deserve it. In order to be successful the Defense leader "MUST BE" the member of the guild who can sustain the most damage!!! More than likely, the member with the highest Def power, and the best or decent defense cards!!! There is no other argument for this (period)!

SUB LEADER

Sub-Leaders are very important to the Battle Royale strategy as well. They have a 150% bump to their Battle Royal points earnings which can add up during a battle. The Sub-Leader of the guild should "Undeniably" be the member of the guild with the highest attack power and the best setup of attack lines against each element. There is no other argument for this as well! Your sub-leader will provide the most attack damage Battle Royale points. It is recommended that you offer your Sub-leader a: (Power Potion Contribution) several days before and during the Battle Royale event. This means, every member of the guild should be required to provide a few power potions to the Sub-Leader prior to the Battle Royale event, as the Sub-Leader should keep them, and use them primarily for attacking other guilds during the event!

ATTACK LEADER(S)

Attack Leaders should be guild members with the highest attack power, duh. Their primary objective is to take down the Defense Leader of opposing guilds during the Battle Royale. Depending on your guild ranking, you can have many Attack Leaders. Be careful though, because this is a double edged sword. Your attack leaders also give a 120% BR points bonus (when defeated in a battle) to opposing guilds. So choose them wisely!!!

If you want to "MAXIMIZE" your ability with your attack leaders you may consider the following setup. If you can have 3 Attack Leaders, choose 3 members of your guild with the highest attack points, besides the Sub-Leader. Next, instruct them to organize the following: All 3, a Battle Royale attack line. All 3 Attack Leaders, organize 1 line with cards used to attack Rampart. All 3 Attack Leaders, organize 1 line with cards containing Large Boosts to Battle Royale points earnings. 1 Attack leader only = Forrest line that gains Large Boosts to Battle Royale point earnings. 1 Attack leader only = Fire line that gains Large Boosts to Battle Royale point earnings. 1 Attack leader only = Water line that gains Large Boosts to Battle Royale point earnings. During the next paragraph I will discuss "Using your Attack Leaders" for Attack Strategy during the Battle Royale event.

ATTACK STRATEGY

This strategy paragraph will vary widely depending on how strong your guild is. You as a guild leader should know how you compare to other guilds. For the Android OS (current as of 21 March 2013). Guild rankings can be summed up as such: Very strong guild: (Ranks 1-40ish) Strong Guild (Ranks 40ish-80ish) Moderately Strong Guilds (Ranks 80ish-150ish) Mediocre Guilds (Ranks 150ish-220ish) Weaker Guilds (Ranks 220ish-below) This vary's widely and is subject to change by amount of LoC players in guilds and guild participation during the Battle Royale Events.

For the top 80 guilds, I recommend attacking the Rampart first. Especially if you have members with cards that have Large and Great boosts to BR points claimed while attacking a Rampart. This strategy will in the long run allow your guild to gain massive amounts of points once the Rampart is destroyed, as you more than likely have a multitude of strong players with power potions to burn, this is lucrative when gaining points after the Rampart has been destroyed, thereby increasing BR points earned & BR ranking placement.

For Mediocre Guilds, I recommend setting up your lines accordingly to the paragraphs above, and attacking the Defense Leader of the opposing guild in a senseless barrage of attacks (until defeated). Once you have taken the Defense Leader down you can concentrate on lower level members of the opposing guild, thereby setting your attack damage % accordingly, thereby gaining the maximum amount of BR points you can. If you have a Sub-leader or Attack-leader willing to burn power potions taking down a Rampart, Have at it! You can gain double the points after the Rampart is down. However, with fewer members than the higher ranked guilds it may be hard continue an onslaught against a Rampart, especially if it is maxed at 50K, and your Attack and Sub leaders do not have allot of power potions.

For weaker guilds, I undoubtedly suggest the following strategy (Preemptive Defeat Strategy). Lets face it, you are not strong enough to compete, and doing so will drastically suck your precious power potion resources away from you. My suggestion to you is to set up your Sub/Atk/Def Leaders accordingly and ride out the storm as best as you can. Really, this is the best strategy for you, sorry to burst your bubble. :-( If you happen to find yourself in a Battle with an equally weak partner, by all means take advantage of the situation. Otherwise, cower, hide, and grow stronger for the next BR Event.

PREEMPTIVE DEFEAT STRATEGY

Basically, this means kissing your butt and hiding. During the Battle Royale you will have chances to go up against all ranks of guilds, some good, some bad and some great. If you are a weaker guild and have no chance of defeating a Rampart, or taking down a Defense Leader, who has an outrageous amount of defense power: JUST SIT THERE AND TAKE IT! I'm being serious! in the long run you will save your precious power potions and frustration trying to defeat a Defense Leader, only to find out the opposing guild is already up 20K+ in BR points ahead of you, and ready to "HEDGE" you! Just sit back and weather the storm, really!

HEDGING

Hedging (coined by yours truly) is a new technique I have seen some strong guilds employing in their BR Battles. It's very interesting and has a "Psychological" effect on opposing guilds.

When a weaker guild finally takes down the Defense Leader of an opposing guild, the "flood gates" are open for the weaker guild to start whoopin on the stronger guild. Many stronger guilds know this is possible, so they employ "Hedging".

Hedging is what happens when a stronger guild lightly "pecks at" a weaker guild until the weaker guild finally takes down the stronger guilds Defense Leader. When this happens the stronger guild "Jumps ahead" n a barrage of attacks against the weaker guild. BR points earnings skyrocket for the stronger guild in no time at all.

What the stronger guild is doing, is they are giving the weaker guild a "false sense of security and hope" that it can defeat the stronger guild, thereby letting the weaker guild burn through its supply of power potions in an attempt to beat the stronger guild. Once the stronger guild jumps ahead of the weaker guild, the members of the weaker guild are left with a sense of hopelessness that they can't at all catch up in the Battle. The weaker guild may very well quit trying to attack the stronger guild as they feel they can't win, thereby the stronger guild invariably saves power potions by not having to attack the weaker guild again. Genius if you ask me ;-)

SCENARIOS

Lets take the hypothetical guild (Dummy Rangers). The Dummy Rangers do not know much about BR strategy as I will soon show you by the way they set up their members. Here is way they set up their members for the Battle Royale.

Incorrect Guild Setup

Stan     (Sub Leader)       Attack Power=  320  Defense Power= 340
John     (Def Leader)       Attack Power=  240  Defense Power= 200
Sara     (Atk Leader)       Attack Power=  150  Defense Power= 240
Jean     (Atk Leader)       Attack Power=  180  Defense Power= 190

Stan should be the Defense Leader!
John & Jean should be Attack Leaders!
Sara should be the Sub-Leader

Now let's take a look a the (Cryptid Crushers), a guild with the proper setup. They have highest Def point member as their Def Leader, the highest Atk point member as the Sub-Leader, and they managed to get in a couple of Atk-Leaders with high attack points.

Correct Guild Setup

Marty    (Sub Leader)     Attack Power= 340    Defense Power= 300 (Highest ATK)
Joe        (Def Leader)     Attack Power= 180    Defense Power= 450 (Highest DEF)
Mary     (Atk Leader)     Attack Power= 320    Defense Power= 110 (High ATK)
Jane       (Atk Leader)     Attack Power= 230    Defense Power= 150 (High ATK)
Mearl     (Atk Leader)     Attack Power= 120    Defense Power= 80 (High ATK)
June       (Atk Leader)     Attack Power= 150    Defense Power= 90 (High ATK)

Once again, let me reiterate  Do not give positions out to: friends, people who want them, or all that jazz unless you want to get your butt whooped! Be smart and design your guild for a maximum Battle Royale advantage! You as the guild leader should find out who has the best Def / Atk point(s) in your guild! Otherwise, why are you the leader???

I hope this article helps you out for the Battle Royale. There are some things that I have not talked about yet, as I need more time and experience to get to them. If you utilize the above strategy you just may be able to survive, win, or dominate the next Battle Royale. Good luck to you all.

  3. so many false statements.
to name just one, "SubLeaders. They have a 150% bump to their Battle Royal points earnings which can add up during a battle."

  4. Well Mr or Mrs Anonymous, I would like to point out that "I did" state about the 150% bump to BR points during a battle. After all it is quite obvious to anyone who has read the read me section posted about the BR that LoC updates previously to every BR Event. I appreciate your concern. Next time read the article. Thank You.

  5. I don't see anything in the rules about subleaders getting a 150% bump in BP for attacking. An attacker gets a 150% bump for defeating the subleader though.

  6. Im in Misfits (Current Rank #1 Guild in BR)!
I have to agree that BR is the most stragegetic event.
    Here are some tips...
If your going for rank you need to buy a base new BR UR and skill it to 10 , this will give you great boost to BR points and large supression to your opponents backline.500pp should be enough to rank in top 100 with BR UR.Also if anyone hasn't noticed the past 2 BR events new UI system has changed gameplay...
People can now hide the big hitters behind other pages and have no attack leaders to get maximum points. That is another point that I'd like to point out...
Low level with high attack power is best for BR!!!
In addition when battling someone make sure you are getting a mininum of 3k points each battle.
